Taste-matched follow-ups
These picks stay near the celebrity roast comedy, bawdy insult humor, and irreverent teasing feel, then widen out into a few deeper cuts. Every pick is a recent premiere or a returning season.
Closest matches first, then broader nearby picks.
Why this fits: The Hot Seat and Hacks both make sharp, adult comedy out of people trading barbs in the spotlight. The live roast thrives on quick insults and the guest’s reactions, while Hacks brings that cutting banter backstage, where a veteran comic and her young writer clash over jokes and ambition.
Why this fits: The Hot Seat’s rowdy jokes and showbiz setting suit The Varnell Hill Show’s playful comedy about making television. One puts comedians onstage for quick-fire insults in front of a crowd; the other finds laughs in writers’ meetings, bruised egos, and a host trying to keep his program relevant.
Why this fits: The Hot Seat and Cash Queens share cheeky, irreverent humor, with teasing and quick improvisation keeping the laughs coming. The roast gets its fun from comedians taking aim at a guest, while Cash Queens turns botched bank jobs into brisk capers, with close calls and longtime friends bickering and covering for one another.
The Hot Seat turns quick-fire insults and a rowdy crowd into the joke; The Paper finds its comedy in workplace absurdity among volunteer reporters trying to revive a struggling newspaper. The newsroom’s gentle, bittersweet friction is less bawdy and more character-driven than a live roast.
The Hot Seat’s irreverent teasing and bawdy put-downs lead naturally to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s comedy of egotistical friends making one disastrous decision after another. Instead of a live crowd reacting to prepared jabs, the laughs come from loose, episodic cringe and characters who never learn.
The Hot Seat’s cheeky insults and quick punchlines find a different target in I Love LA, where awkward social comedy exposes petty jealousies and workplace power games. Its humor is drier and more relationship-focused, following friends’ messy romances and ambitions rather than a single rowdy stage event.
