Shrinking(2023)

Shrinking follows a therapist who stops pretending to be neutral and starts telling his clients exactly what he thinks, which turns out to be both genuinely helpful and spectacularly disruptive. The comedy runs on blunt honesty landing at the worst possible moments, and the grief underneath it keeps the chaos from feeling weightless. Absurdity and real feeling arrive in the same scene, sometimes in the same line.

His relationship with his teenage daughter gives the story its sharpest edges; two people who have both gone a little feral from loss, trying to figure out how to be a family again without a script for it. The workplace friendships pile on additional pressure, since his colleagues are close enough to notice how badly he is handling things and stubborn enough to keep showing up anyway.
