Why this fits: School Spirits makes a school mystery feel personal by mixing supernatural clues with the awkward pressure of teen friendships, and Wednesday has that same mix of eerie puzzles and sharp schoolyard friction. Maddie’s search for answers unfolds among classmates in the afterlife, while Wednesday’s deadpan humor and psychic visions give her investigation a darker, stranger edge.
Why this fits: School Spirits turns teen friendships and a mystery into a steady source of unease, and If Wishes Could Kill brings that same close-knit social tension into horror. Maddie’s disappearance shapes the questions her classmates face, while five friends in the Korean series race against deadly warnings from an app, making the danger more immediate and relentless.
Why this fits: School Spirits makes its mystery compelling by letting supernatural danger complicate a personal search for answers, and Yaga brings that same uneasy mix to a layered crime story. Maddie’s school is full of ghosts and secrets, while Yaga builds dread around ancient magic, unreliable suspects, and dangers that resist easy explanation.
School Spirits turns high school friendships and a ghostly whodunit into a personal investigation; Beastars also builds an uneasy school mystery around social distrust. Its predator-and-prey danger and restrained character drama make the suspense darker and more focused on inner conflict.
School Spirits pairs loss and identity with a supernatural mystery, while Rien ne t'efface follows grief into a mother's desperate search. Expect a slower, more intimate thriller, where unresolved mourning and identity questions shape the suspense rather than teen friendship drama.
School Spirits uses a ghostly whodunit to uncover secrets amid teen friendship drama; Girl from Nowhere turns school cruelty into episodic moral reckoning. Its psychological mind games and ironic payback make for a darker, sharper watch, with twist endings instead of a personal afterlife investigation.
