What to Expect

PremiereLens read

We Are All Trying Here makes small moments of comparison feel painful, staying close to a man's resentment and the loneliness that accompanies it. This is a quiet, sometimes uncomfortable character study, with unhurried pacing and a sober tone. Everyday encounters carry emotional weight because other people's apparent success keeps pressing against his fragile sense of worth.

His envy is treated frankly, but with compassion for the person struggling beneath it. The search for peace unfolds through his inner life rather than violent confrontation, allowing resentment, self-doubt, and the wish to heal to share the same space. That gentle ache gives the drama its emotional texture without making its protagonist's flaws disappear.
