Head Girl(2026)

Head Girl is a Wellington-set comedy-drama that runs on personality clash rather than plot crisis. Flo, Dee, and Sadie share a flat and almost nothing else: one wants to write poetry, one wants a good time, one wants everything done correctly. The comedy is character-driven and the drama is too, both growing out of the same basic incompatibility between three people who keep colliding in a small shared space.

Sadie's perfectionism is funnier and more fragile when Dee is around, and Dee's hedonism lands differently when Flo is trying to be taken seriously as an artist. Each flatmate's self-image keeps getting quietly punctured by the others, not through big confrontations but through the ordinary friction of shared kitchens and competing priorities. Early adulthood here is genuinely unresolved, which gives the show an honest, slightly uncomfortable texture that sits closer to life than to tidy coming-of-age arcs.
