Laure Mondo's specialty is the perfect crime. A successful novelist, perched on dizzying heels, Laure cultivates her mystery and deadly humor. The complete opposite of his assistant: Pica. Messy hair, loud laughter, colorful t-shirts, she is struggling to satisfy her whimsical boss. This mismatched duo will, however, be confronted with their first investigation: Yves Cayatte, boss of an international luxury group, is found dead in the swimming pool of his sumptuous Corsican villa. The police conclude it was an accident. But Laure doesn't believe it. Yves was a monster and everyone in his family wanted him dead. Sniffing the material for her next novel, she is determined to discover the truth, helped by the turbulent Pica.

The 'Burbs poster

The 'Burbs

Peacock • Feb 8 • 2026
ComedyMystery

A young couple moves back to the husband's childhood home, only to face threats from new neighbors and uncover dark secrets of their cul-de-sac.

Why This Pick

The 'Burbs leans into the same closed-circle, secrets-everywhere suspense as Un meurtre (presque) parfait, where everyone around the victim has a reason to hide something. Suburban paranoia and betrayal fuel the laughs that curdle into unease, and the twisty pacing feels sharper and colder, with less cozy teamwork than Laure and Pica.

Murder Mindfully poster

Murder Mindfully

Netflix • May 28 • 2024
DramaComedy

A lawyer attends a mindfulness retreat to restore work-life balance but unexpectedly becomes a murderer and mastermind for the mob.

Why This Pick

Murder Mindfully shares Un meurtre (presque) parfait’s deadpan, self-serving comedy engine, where people chase their own comfort and end up in danger. The story pivots from workplace burnout and awkward sincerity into big-city crime chaos, keeping the humor tight while the tone turns stranger and more spiraling than Laure’s controlled, novelist-style investigation.
