Though I Am an Inept Villainess(2026)

Two women swap bodies and, with them, each other's death sentences. One inherits a healthier frame but a target on her back; the other steps into a life that looks enviable from the outside and immediately finds the cracks. The conspiracy driving both toward execution unfolds through court politics rather than combat, so the pressure is almost entirely social: who controls information, who holds favor, and how fast either woman can learn the rules of a life she never lived.

Dramatic irony does a lot of the work here. Each character gradually pieces together how much the other was suffering, and those realizations land harder because neither woman can simply explain herself. The palace setting keeps everything close and claustrophobic, with status shifts measured in small gestures rather than grand confrontations.
