The Boroughs(2026)

The Boroughs puts older adults at the center of genuine genre action, not as comic relief or wise bystanders but as the people who have to actually stop something. Set inside a retirement community that turns out to be anything but quiet, the show moves between horror dread and outright adventure, shifting registers often enough that neither feeling goes stale.

Time is the specific thing being stolen, which lands differently when the characters are already acutely aware of how little they have left. That double pressure, existential and immediate at once, runs through the community relationships: couples, old friendships, neighbors who barely know each other suddenly sharing something enormous. The ensemble structure means the threat keeps fracturing across different bonds, each one carrying its own version of what survival actually costs.
