What to Expect

PremiereLens read

Super Psychic Policeman Chojo is an episodic animated comedy built around a single running contradiction: the senior officer has genuine psychic abilities and absolutely no interest in using them responsibly. Each case or eccentric local drops a new comic situation into that setup, and the show cycles through them at a light, unhurried pace.

The rookie carries the straight-man weight, arriving with actual professional ambition and getting saddled with a partner whose selfishness and laziness undercut every investigation before it starts. That friction is the recurring source of humor, not crime-solving tension or action. The psychic powers exist mainly to make the senior officer's indifference more absurd.

Strongest Match

Super Psychic Policeman Chojo makes supernatural trouble funny by putting an unusual ability beside a partner’s comic shortcomings, and Let’s Go Kaikigumi finds laughs in the same kind of mismatch. Why this pick

The fun in Super Psychic Policeman Chojo comes from watching an eccentric, unreliable worker turn routine trouble into comedy, a pleasure President Curtis brings to its workplace chaos. Its government crew bungles crises with brisk, irreverent jokes, trading Chojo’s local cases and psychic antics for a broader parade of bureaucratic mishaps.

Why this pick

Super Psychic Policeman Chojo and SPY x FAMILY both make comedy out of capable people hiding unusual sides beneath everyday roles. Chojo’s police work gets derailed by his lazy partner, while SPY x FAMILY turns secret identities into domestic misunderstandings, with spy missions adding more danger and the family bond bringing extra warmth.
