What to Expect

PremiereLens read

SpyOn treats spy training as a workplace comedy full of questionable hiring decisions. Voss’s reputation does little to reassure Haberland and Kocabay about his chosen recruits, giving the veteran handler’s confidence a skeptical reception. The ensemble spreads the comedy across clashing personalities and oddly specific talents, with warmth emerging through the absurdity rather than replacing it.

Sami’s relentless cheerfulness rubs against that institutional doubt, while Vicky’s ambition comes with exam anxiety that threatens to undo her preparation. Andi’s exceptional nose supplies physical comedy; Yuki’s tendency to go unnoticed becomes a running joke. Alongside Asel’s mathematical gifts and photographic memory, these quirks give the training a different comic shape depending on which recruit steps forward.

Why this pick

The fun in SpyOn and Super Psychic Policeman Chojo comes from watching an unusual talent make a workplace team less competent, not more. SpyOn gets laughs from mismatched recruits and a veteran handler whose judgment is doubted, while Chojo’s psychic policeman is so lazy and selfish that his partner has to keep the cases moving.
