What to Expect

PremiereLens read

Prefiero la Muerte turns zombie danger into an awkward test of heroism, with a school outcast forced to act well beyond his confidence. The comedy plays on the distance between how he sees himself and what the city now needs him to do. Action sequences keep the horror moving, favoring creature encounters and unlikely bravery over sustained dread.

His two friends make survival a shared problem rather than a solo transformation into a fearless hero. Their help gives the adventure its lighter buddy texture, even as the danger threatens people beyond the trio. Friendship has a practical role here: getting through the mission depends on support, not just the bitten student discovering that he can be brave.

Why this pick

Prefiero la Muerte and The Villager of Level 999 both make an unlikely hero’s awkward place in the world part of the comedy, alongside bursts of monster-fighting action. The student’s zombie bite forces him into a city-saving role, while a supposedly lowly villager’s surprising strength brings lighter clashes with a world that dismisses him.

Why this pick

Prefiero la Muerte and The Walking Dead: Dead City both put zombie danger beside tense relationships, so survival never feels separate from the people involved. Prefiero la Muerte keeps things playful with an outcast and his friends facing a city-wide threat, while Dead City is darker and more deliberate, built around wary cooperation in urban ruins.
