Ludwig(2024)

Ludwig runs on a specific comic-dramatic premise: a puzzle designer who has borrowed his twin brother's identity as a detective, solving real crimes through the same lateral thinking he applies to puzzles, while his colleagues believe he is someone else entirely. The procedural cases arrive episode by episode on BBC One, each one a contained problem, but the deception running underneath them never fully relaxes. Discovery by his team would end everything, and that threat sits quietly behind every interaction.

The missing brother James is the reason John is there at all, and his absence surfaces beneath the case-by-case structure as a longer question the individual mysteries cannot answer. John's social withdrawal makes every exchange with his supposed colleagues a small performance, and the dry British humor comes directly from watching someone technically competent at detection but visibly unpracticed at being a person in a room full of people who trust a version of him that does not exist.
