What to Expect

PremiereLens read

Lanterns gives its superhero science fiction the pace and atmosphere of a small-town murder mystery. Clues, local secrets, and uneasy townspeople emerge piece by piece through a connected story, with steady detective work punctuated by bursts of action. Cosmic technology and alien powers bring spectacle to a case whose suspense stays grounded in the American heartland.

The veteran and the recruit approach that investigation with very different levels of experience. One brings a long history on the job; the other is still learning it, making their working relationship part of the drama rather than just a route through the clues. Both are far from home, pairing the unfamiliarity of a small American town with the demands of cosmic duty.
