Landman plants itself firmly in West Texas oil country, using the roughneck world of drilling rigs as the backdrop for a drama that runs on competing loyalties. Professional ambition and fractured domestic life press against each other constantly, with boss-employee friction and co-worker tension feeding into the same web of grievances that plays out at the dinner table.

Fractured marriages and infidelity sit alongside father-son and father-daughter fault lines, so the personal and the professional rarely stay separate for long. A character's standing at work tends to echo, or worsen, what's already broken at home. That doubling of pressure across generations and roles gives the story its density, keeping multiple relationships in slow-burn conflict at once.
