Six St. Louis women keep two lives running simultaneously, and the show builds its comedy and drama from exactly how much effort that takes. The public version is school pickups, neighborhood barbecues, and polite conversation; the private version is a full adult content business that cannot, under any circumstances, bleed through. Every episode runs on near-misses and close calls, the kind where a wrong notification or a curious husband could collapse everything.

The ensemble format means the six women are each other's only confidants, which creates its own pressure.
