Dirty Business(2026)

Dirty Business follows two ordinary people in an Oxfordshire village who notice dying fish in their local river and spend the next four decades trying to get a straight answer from the water company responsible. The miniseries spans the 1990s through the 2020s, so the investigation itself ages, accumulates setbacks, and keeps returning to the same unanswered questions across changing eras.

What makes the pacing unusual is that institutional deflection does most of the dramatic work. No single confrontation breaks the case open; instead, evasive responses, bureaucratic delays, and incremental discoveries pile up over years. The story is built on persistence rather than revelation, and the passage of real calendar time gives the whole thing a weight that a tighter, faster narrative simply could not carry.
