Agent from Above runs as a hybrid of supernatural case work and mythology-driven serial plotting. Each episode brings a discrete confrontation with the spirit world, but those cases feed into a larger threat: a being called Wu Tien-chi whose presence destabilizes the boundary between the human and demon realms. The folk belief systems here function as hard rules, not atmosphere, so the logic of what Han Chieh can and cannot do carries real weight.

Han Chieh's debt to the Third Crown Prince is the engine beneath everything, a sentence of service that forces him to use a gift he has not made peace with. His two partners complicate that further: Yeh Tzu brings stubborn optimism into situations that call for none, and detective Chang Min's ability to see spirits creates an investigative overlap that the villain Chen Chi-sha, cold and escalating across episodes, is happy to exploit.
