Survival of the Thickest(2023)

A New York City stylist rebuilds her life after a breakup, and the show tracks that process through romantic misfires, professional embarrassments, and small hard-won recoveries. Each episode moves quickly, delivering a specific mess and then a specific win, so the tone stays warm even when things go badly wrong. Fashion is woven into the story rather than used as decoration; what the protagonist wears and creates connects directly to who she is trying to become.

The social circle does a lot of work here. Roommates and coworkers generate friction that is funny without being cruel, and the comedy tends to come from recognizable humiliation rather than absurdist setups. Body image and ageism surface in the story without the show stopping to lecture about them; they are just part of the professional and romantic landscape the protagonist has to move through.
