Flukten fra Bolivia opens inside a Bolivian women's prison, and it stays there long enough for the institutional dread to settle properly. Ida, her sister-in-law Michelle, and her lover Cecilie are handed life sentences on cocaine smuggling charges, and the drama builds its early pressure from confinement: the noise, the hierarchy, the slow erosion of any sense that outside help is coming. Norwegian authorities offer little. Trust, inside and outside the walls, keeps proving to be the wrong bet.

Carrying a newborn through South American jungle while a mercenary runs point is not where the story begins, but it is where the accumulated betrayals land.
