Fallout(2024)

Fallout pairs bloody wasteland action with a cheerfulness that can feel almost as unsettling as the cruelty. Retro optimism survives amid nuclear wreckage, making room for absurd jokes without softening the gore. Shootouts and encounters with mutants and bandits turn road-trip adventure into a brutal test of naive idealism, with the tone shifting from funny to bleak rather than settling into straightforward heroics.

Several storylines unfold in parallel, gradually knotting together through mysteries and journeys across ruined Los Angeles. Rusted desert highways, crumbling city streets and enclosed vault corridors give those threads sharply different surroundings. The contrast between generations of sheltered bunker life and the violence outside gives the adventure a harsher edge than its cheerful surfaces suggest.
