Cat's Eye gives its art heists a playful flourish: clever disguises, gadgets and rooftop escapes turn stolen paintings into brisk cat-and-mouse adventures. The sisters work as a team, leaving their calling card behind with a confidence that matches the series' retro glamour. Action stays light, with little gore, while comedy and romance give the pursuit a teasing edge.
Hitomi's fiancé, Toshi, is the police officer determined to catch the very thieves she works alongside. That divided loyalty puts a flirtatious complication into the capers, but the paintings have a purpose beyond outsmarting him. Each recovered work offers a possible clue to the sisters' missing father, linking the individual thefts into a longer family mystery and carrying their hope that he might contact them.
