What to Expect

PremiereLens read

A Certain Item of Dark Side follows ITEM, four girls with psychic combat abilities running covert operations inside Academy City. The missions are sanctioned but unacknowledged, meaning failure carries a specific cost: death, exposure, or both. The action is direct and brutal, built around psychic power systems used in close, consequential fights rather than spectacle for its own sake.

A fifth girl arriving into an already tight unit creates friction that compounds as the assignments grow more compromising. Loyalty inside the group gets tested not by abstract principle but by what each mission actually asks them to do, and the institutional corruption driving those missions is never kept offscreen or softened into subtext.
