9-1-1(2018)

9-1-1 turns Los Angeles emergencies into large-scale action sequences, moving from freak accidents to citywide catastrophes with urgent, sometimes frightening rescues. Each episode brings a fresh crisis, but the tone is far from uniformly grim: survival against the odds shares space with big laughs and tearful scenes of people helping one another through the worst moments of their lives.

Back at the firehouse, close friendships and easy banter give the responders room to be more than rescuers. Marriages, sibling relationships, roommates and romances carry personal problems across seasons, while flashbacks reveal the past behind their wounds. Those longer stories give the series a different pace between calls, building a chosen family whose members need care as well as give it.
